The most natural way to replace a missing tooth.
Dental Elements now offers Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) treatment for many implant and surgical procedures. Utilizing a small sample of the patient’s own blood, this procedure produces a thin, durable layer of platelet-rich fibrin. The proteins in the fibrin accelerates faster healing of soft and hard tissue while reducing pain, swelling and the likelihood of infection. In other words, PRF creates a more comfortable and less painful experience for the patient. PRF has been used in areas other than dentistry, including dermatology, orthopedics, heart surgery and plastic surgery.
When the body has an injury, it heals by bringing blood to the wound site. Blood contains white blood cells from your immune system and many proteins that help with healing. The problem is that only a small amount of these cells are available in the blood, so a large volume of blood needs to pass through the wound site to stimulate healing. Because this takes a long time, injuries stay red and swollen as they heal. A-PRF speeds up the healing process by concentrating the healing properties of blood and placing them directly at the wound site
Prior to implant placement or other surgical procedure, we start by drawing a small amount of the patient’s blood, in the same manner as a blood draw for a physical. This blood is placed in a centrifuge that separates the blood into three individual components: plasma, red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets. The white blood cells and platelets make up the PRF — the necessary component for wound healing. The PRF is placed directly into the surgical site. Having these concentrated wound-healing cells immediately available at the surgical site, accelerates the healing cycle and increases the patient’s rejuvenation abilities.
I had a long overdue deep cleaning, root canal/crown, AND fillings within a month. Dr. Thurman, Morgan, Kathy and staff were very attentive and kind with not ONLY the procedures and explanations but with checking up on me after the root canal. Also great at helping me figure out my insurance coverage and payments. Dental Elements is GREAT.
